What happens when dead cells build up on the surface of our skin?
Many of us do not know that we shed almost a million skin cells (https://www.reference.com/science/much-skin-shed-day-4e93a661a80b649a) a day! These cells are called ‘keratinocytes’and when they die, they form around 15-20 layers of dead cells. When these dead skin cells do not break away from the skin regularly enough, they can collect in the our pores. When combined with sebum, it clogs the pore, resulting blackheads and whiteheads.
